Between 1942 and 1946 Gard supervised the collection of tall tales, humor, stories, reminiscences, plays, poems, photographs and other materials about Alberta, Canada. The collection of over 1,000 items is housed in the Bruce Peel Special Collections Library at the University of Alberta.
The collection was digitized as part of "Our Future, Our Past: the Alberta Heritage Digitization Project." You can browse the collected works at the Alberta Folklore and Local History Collection. Numerous radio scripts, plays, periodical articles, biographies and short stories by Robert Gard are available for study on this website.
At the left is a reproduction of the cover of the Alberta Folklore Quarterly vol. 1, no. 1 (March 1945). This particular issue was edited by Gard and is one of many digitized works that can be found in the Collection.
